 The HP5000 has been out long enough for a definitive review. IT'S GREAT! We are fortunate to have a benevolent monopoly in HP. The HP5000 is a remarkable plotter.
Speed: The HP5000 is fast. Actual measurements may vary, but trust me, it's fast. The printhead lays down ¾" band of ink per pass. The spindle holds twice the paper (300') of most machines. The bulk ink cartridges hold 650ml of ink. This is the equivalent of 20 regular cartridges. This adds up to a production machine that will really crank out the work.
Graphics: Resolution is not sacrificed. The resolution is twice that of the "old style" plotters (600 dpi). This is as crisp as reasonably necessary for cad plotting. The 5000 has six color cartridges with the addition of light cyan and light magenta. These extra color enhance the shading capabilities. Banding and obvious dots are a thing of the past. On the proper paper, prints are the equal to true photographs.
Summary: The HP5000 is a little more machine than most firms need, but if you are looking for a machine that can handle current production as well as future growth, look no further. We can direct you to a local company that sells and services the HP5000 and other HP machines.

Wow how time flies:
It seems like just yesterday when we were a little start-up shop. Just Cari Springfield and I ran the place an it seemed so simple. I published this little ol' newsletter about once a quarter. And then BAM!, along comes Garrett, my first kid (4 years) followed quickly by Skylar (2½ years) and writing newsletters was a thing of the past! Well, both the kids are potty trained and doing fine thank you. So, let's catch up a little.
New Building:
We outgrew our original location off of Powell Lane. I loved the place but with our growth we busted out at the seems. Our new building is located on the southbound access road of IH-35 just north of Howard Lane. Many of you have seen our big, blue sign. We tripled our size in a much better location. The move was tough (we literally have tons of paper). Thanks to you, our loyal and patient clients, we made it through the move. We are now settled in quite nicely -- drop by anytime. I still owe an "Open House" in the spring. The extra space enables us to add the people and inventory needed to keep up with our clients' expectations!
Changes Still Afoot:
Our goal is to fill up the empty offices with quality people. I intend to hire two people to help me with the A&E market in Austin. I also need a person to help me expand into the graphics market. If you happen to know anyone who might be interested, please send them my way. Hopefully, we will be able to introduce them in the next newsletter!

Rogers |
James, better known as "Red" for his flaming locks of hair, has been with us since early summer. By now, he has delivered to most everybody. Red is great about service with a smile. Just let him know where you want our paper and presto, he'll take care of the rest.
Red has a part time gig to keep his creative juices flowing. Many of you may have heard him at his passion already. Our hold music rocks from the Red Rogers Band's first outstanding album. Keep an eye out for him as he plays regularly around Austin.
Many thanks to all the people who have called in praises for Red. We hope to keep him just a little while longer before stardom snatches him away.

Tear Resistant Photo Paper
Photobase papers have experienced many rapid changes recently. The paper and plotters have improved so dramatically that almost any plotter can now render outstanding photographs. The prints look even better when they are produced for less than $3 for a 24x36"!!!
Last year we discovered a truly revolutionary photo paper. The universal coating is the best I have seen. Images dry quickly producing crisp vibrant images. Ink consumption and smearing are minimal.
The tear resistant base makes this paper revolutionary. The paper can be torn given enough effort, so no tug of wars! Now you can hang your favorite prints on the wall without mounting or framing. The prints still need to be handled with care, but the durability is exceptional.
The no-tear paper is so impressive we have phased out most of our old photo base papers for the new CGFTRS/G. Satin and gloss finishes are available in all sizes. A matte finish waterproof is also available. CGFTRS typically is less expensive than our previous photobases.
