Water Fast Glossy
Photo Paper |
Modern technology has finally resolved one of the weaknesses of inkjet. A new coating has been developed that renders the ink water fast. I don’t know how this "microporous" coating works chemically, but I can tell you the photo paper is glossy and the ink won’t run off when doused in the kitchen sink.
This new coating should be successfully applied to surfaces previously unsuitable to water-fast coatings. We are already stocking a glossy and satin photo base. I expect a glossy canvas, vinyl, backlit and banner products soon. In the future, all products will be coated with this or a similar style coating.
The glossy base works well with dye or pigmented inks. The coating is “universal” so it should work on all inkjet or piezo plotters, including the Epsons with archival ink! The satin and gloss are 8 mil premium photo paper. The ink dries instantly, making it suitable for immediate lamination. The cost is reasonable at $90 for a 36"x90' roll. Other sizes are available. Please call us for more information.

A new year:
Hopefully everyone survived the holidays and is fired up to make this year a great one. I’m counting on YOU to help get Austin kick started. My belief is that the recession has bottomed out and 2004 is our year of recovery. Now let's go make it happen.
Our graphics division is taking up a lot of time, but I think you will find it’s worth it. We are getting in some incredible new products (see review). We may even have a big announcement in the next couple of months.
My wife and new baby are doing fine. Thanks again for all of your well wishes. I am just now getting enough shuteye to be coherent. Let me tell you, three kids under the age of five are tough! We need to go to the "box and one."
Enough about me, back to work. And remember, have a good year!

Luke Barrow |
|
I would like to introduce Luke Barrow to South Austin and beyond. Luke is responsible for our clients in downtown Austin and south of the river. He has been with us for six months now and hopefully everyone has had a chance to meet him. If not, give us a call and he’ll come right out.
Luke also went to UT and got the dreaded Advertising degree. We have pulled him over from the "dark side" and are making him work for a living. Out of school, Luke worked at Block Distributing as their wine expert. He cannot only recommend the right paper for your plotter, but also a nice Chardonnay!
As seems to be the trend, Luke also has a creative talent. He toiled many years as a filmmaker. Before coming to us, he created a surfing film in La Ticla, Michoacan (Mexico). The scenery and surfing are breathtaking, but alas, no shots of Luke on a surfboard. We’ve fixed that in our photo of him!. When our in-house band makes it big, he promises to shoot the MTV video.
You can expect Luke to provide the service and professionalism expected from all of us. Please welcome Luke Barrow into the growing CAD Supplies family.

Company Profile:

The
Moore
Group |
The Moore Group is a civil engineering firm located in Westlake that specializes in providing “turn key” service. On their web site, they describe themselves as "a small, diverse group of design and engineering professionals with training and experience in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction and Landscape Architecture, and Environmental Science."
HISTORY
With over 40 years combined experience, the Engineering and Development consultants at the Moore Group apply their expertise to projects of all magnitudes. Their expertise ranges from engineering and development consulting to marina engineering to landscape architecture.
Edward C. Moore formed The Moore Group in 1999 after working in the local Engineering community for over 16 years. His firm has seen continuous success over the past few years. This is evident in the fact that they recently moved into a larger office space in the hills of west Austin to accommodate the growing business.
PHILOSOPHY
The Moore Groups’ major advantage "as a design team is [their] ability to provide quality engineering and design services in a time and cost efficient manner, with an emphasis on personal, one-on-one interaction with our clients."
Additionally, their practice is geared toward projects facing demanding environmental protection requirements or seeking to incorporate environmental amenities as an integral part of the site. Such accomplishments include Greenshores on Lake Austin, Las Entradas Marina, and Cypress Hills to name a few.
WHERE CS2 FITS IN
Much like the Moore Group, CS2 prides itself on personal one-on-one interaction. "We really like the service of CAD Supplies. As our company has grown, so has our paper usage and CS2 has always been there to adjust to our needs,” said engineer Adam Wiggante.
"It could be the best engineering in the world, but if the paper quality is poor, lines smudged, etc., then the project looks bad."
The Moore Group has landed great jobs through associations and relationships built with and at other companies. Just as a developer will seek good engineers, we at CS2 like to believe good engineers will seek out the best paper suppliers.
We are proud to acknowledge the successes of the Moore group and proud to be in anyway associated with their success. It is our pleasure to continue to grow with all of our customers here at CS2, and we really love to brag on you.
