Pulliam Engineering: The First!
So, I had just returned from lunch with John De La Garza ... we were sitting in my office "sealing" our deal. In walked Jim Kirkpatrick with a note indicating that George Pulliam's plotter was "in need of repair." Always the optimist, I thought this would be a golden opportunity to help out a client, field test my new technician and get this new venture started off right!
I called George and discussed the exact issue at hand -- "makes a racket and carriage doesn't move." I asked John, "can you fix it?" He gives me a gentle laugh and says yes, "it's a belt and I have one in the truck." Off he goes and in no time I get a call from George. John couldn't have gotten much past the driveway. "John was fantastic, he has me up and running already! He showed me things about the plotter that I never even knew!" George was very generous with his praise. I asked him if he thought I had a good technician. "Oh yes, he was great!"
That day my new venture in the plotter repair business started. George, thanks for being the first customer ever! I am confident everything is going to be just fine.

Busy Summer!
I tried to give fair warning in the last newsletter about the "BIG THINGS" going on at the CAD Supplies shop. After years of requests and gentle nudgings from our clients, we have started a service department. We are starting by working on HP & Encad plotters. We hope to service OCE, Xerox and the rest in the future. The two gentlemen that are the service department have 45+ years of experience. Ken Wilson has worked for Xerox and OCE for the last 20 years. John De La Garza has worked for HP and his own service company for over 20 years. We are in good hands with these two. For more info click service or call at 833-9800 for details.
We are not forgetting our bread & butter. Luke Barrow has been promoted to handle the entire Austin area. He previously serviced south Austin. We are currently looking for an assistant to help Luke as our inside salesperson. Please send any young energetic people our way!
I have been so busy that I am missing "summer vacation!" I have no time to goof off now that Austin is starting to boom again. Oh well, such is life. Now get back to work.

CAD Supplies Specialty, Inc
Service Department
CS2 has just completed certification by HP to provide service work on all HP plotters. We can also work on most Encad machines. No other company in Austin concentrates on plotter service work like we will. We intend to do things a bit differently as well.
Unscheduled service calls: We can fix anything that might go wrong with your plotter. We stock a wide range of parts which ensures that we can fix it right on the first service call. Two technicians will allow us to get to each "emergency" quickly. As you know, there is always someone to answer the phones. A preventative maintenance routine is performed after repair is completed. CS2 offers an extended warranty on the repairs.
Preventative Maintenance: One of the new programs we are introducing that sets us apart from the competition is an annual preventative maintenance call. Most plotters have never had a PM. If your plotter is critical to your business, please let us do a PM. Our guys will calibrate, adjust, clean, and lube your plotter. This will lessen the likelihood of an unexpected breakdown. They will also evaluate the plotter for worn-out parts and replace them before they break.

Service Agreement: We have several programs for an annual service agreement (or extended warranty). The deluxe plan includes labor and all parts. What makes our plans different is we believe in proactive maintenance -- not just fixing what's broken. Our service agreements include an annual preventative maintenance call. I also expect periodic clean and calibrate service visits. We install a power conditioner for each plotter to extend printhead life and preserve the electronic parts. Our agreements go way beyond the competition.
HP Warranty work: We went through the extra-certification steps for AWDP approval. This is a fancy term which means we can perform HP warranty work for you in HP's place. Call us and we will make all of the arrangements with HP. This also works for HP's extended warranty programs. CS2 not only offers faster response times, but will do a PM while we are there! CS2 truly improves upon HP warranty service -- try us!
Installation: Nothing is worse than buying a new toy and not being able to set it up. Our service guys can set up your plotter without having to read the manual! Give HP our partner ID# when ordering and the installation is free!
This is a lot of information and it is so new -- call us and we will explain in more detail.

BUY - SELL - TRADE
Please email information on plotters, blueline machines or other surplus items you would like to buy and/or sell. Please include the preferred email address for replies. CS2 does not warrant or endorse any listings. There is no fee to place an ad.
WE'RE NOW BUYING USED PLOTTERS!!!
CS2's new service department wants your boat anchors. We need to salvage parts for obsolete inkjet plotters -- any condition. Let us know what you have and we'll gladly come by and pick it up from you! Please contact Ken Wilson at service@cadsupplies.com.
