A guide for the CAD industry...
CADworld

  HP Ink Cartridges & Printheads

The HP ink cartridges and HP printheads are designed for professionals who require high quality color and fast, easy, reliable printing solutions.  They are built to provide high speed black and color printing.  These smart cartridges provide on going status feedback for clear, sharp results without guesswork.  You can experience lower costs per print and increased printhead life by replacing printheads separately and less frequently than ink cartridges.  A rumor has grown that you need to replace the printhead every time you install an ink cartridge.  We've found that to be erroneous.  On average, one printhead will last through two to three ink cartridges, depending on usage.

Although the number of plots will vary according to the density, print modes, media types, and colors used, these links provide a guideline to determine how many pages or plots an ink cartridge will print.  To calculate the approximate cost per page, divide the number of pages into the price.

The printer automatically performs priming, cleaning and capping of the cartridges to maintain optimum print quality.  Proper use and handling will provide optimum print quality, and cartridge life.

 Home Stretch...

Looks like we are coming down the final stretch with a flourish.  It seems big things are happening here every month.  I guess that is life in the fast lane.

Mike and Ken will be in California right about now getting trained on the Roland Solvent Plotters.  I am proud to say we already have orders approved and awaiting their return.  Hurry back guys!!!  See Mike’s announcement below.

While they are gone, CS2 will be doing something we have never done before -- participating in a tradeshow.  The Construction Expo is coming to town for the first time ever.  I am pleased to say we will have a well placed corner booth.  Seiko and HP are supporting us with show specials on the Seiko LP1010 and the HP Designjet 1050C.  Both will be up and running at the show.  If that is not enough incentive to come ... well, how about...

Hope to see everyone there.  Our clients have given us the opportunity to get into all of these new arenas, and for that I am always thankful, if not a little tired.

  New Product Line Announcement

CAD Supplies Specialty is proud to announce that we will now be a dealer for the Roland wide format solvent printer.  In the sign and graphic arts industries, Roland is widely recognized as the leader in the development of integrated print/cut technology.  This integrated technology is unique in that it facilitates a one-step seamless production cycle for both the high-resolution printing and contour cutting required to produce sophisticated sign graphics as well as custom labels, decals and vehicle graphics.  By contrast, competing print/cut products require users to complete each of these tasks separately, a process that is more time consuming, more labor intensive, and less precise.

Roland's wide-format printing technology is designed to meet the highest standards in digital print quality.  Wide-format printing solutions include the company's Hi-Fi JET Pro, SOLJET and AdvancedJET high-end wide-format six-color printers, ranging in size from 54 to 104 inches in width.

Check out Coreslab Structures!

I recently visited with Stanley Townsend of Coreslab Structures, one of our faithfully busy customers!  I don't know how many of you have seen an active quarry, but I can tell you it is very impressive up close and personal.

Coreslab Structures was originally founded by the Justin Boots Family.  How you get from rocks to boots, I don’t know. The quarry has since been acquired by Featherlite.  All of this is located out FM 1431 in Cedar Park.

This division was bought by Coreslab 20 years ago.  The ownership is a Canadian company located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  They do pre-cast concrete for commercial buildings and parking lots, and they have a presence all across the United States.  They have locations in over 19 cities with continued growth forecasted, major markets in Texas is a key target for expansion.

Stanley has been in Austin as the purchasing agent for Coreslab for over 16 years.  On the day that I visited with Stanley, I was impressed that he could take the "heat" from his flamboyant PINK shirt.  Obviously the work atmosphere is relaxed and fun, not what you might expect from such a rugged environment.  Stanley has a reputation for being a sharp dressed man!

As a result of their continued growth, they regularly contract for CAD design work.  If you have any desire to work with a busy company like Coreslab, give Stanley a call.  He is always ready to show off his latest attire!
